Can You Tell The Difference Between These Skin Diseases – Acne Rosacea And Adult Acne

by admin on July 29, 2009

Thought you saw the last of those zits, blackheads and whiteheads from your teen years? Perhaps not! Many adult males and females suffer from the effects of acne in their late twenties and thirties, even those that had never experienced the problem in adolescence.

There are generally two types of adult acne – the more  popular form known as Acne Vulgaris, and the less known form known as Acne Rosacea.

It is estimated that up to 85% of the American population in the age range of 12 years to 24 years of age have seen the symptoms personally of  Acne Vulgaris.  Surprisingly, somewhere around five percent of this group, or 13 million people, experience the aggravation and “rosy” cheeks of Acne Rosacea.

What Is Acne Rosacea?

Acne Rosacea is a skin disorder that is usually associated with the cheeks, chin, nose and less often, the eyes. This skin disease most commonly affects men and women in the age range of 30 years to 60 years of age. The condition is characterized by pimples, redness, and broken blood vessels on the face .

In the beginning, a man or woman’s cheeks can show a blush or flush appearance quite easily. But, as the acne rosacea develops further, redness will become much more visible around the nose, and then spread to other areas of the face. In a severe case of rosacea, one might develop enlarged oil glands under the surface of the skin on the nose that can lead to an enlarged and bulbous red nose.  Viewing pictures of rosacea can provide a great visual image of this skin condition’s symptoms.

What Is The Best Rosacea Treatment?

The facts indicate that the skin disorder called Rosacea isn’t medically dangerous.  The bad news is that this condition is also incurable.  However, with a program using a rosacea natural treatment and lifestyle revisions, this skin disease can be controlled.   A person should treat acne rosacea with a quality rosacea cream to minimize the sensitivity of the skin and reduce symptoms.
