Facial Massage, a Very Pleasant Experience

Done correctly, facial massage will balance the oil and moisture content, help eliminate toxins, help firm facial muscles and relax the whole body. Facial massage can be done using your favorite skin lotion or using essential oils suitable for your particular skin type.

You will find that however you are feeling prior to a facial massage you will feel 100% better when you leave. Whatever you have on your mind, your children, your Aviva equity release or your work when you have a massage you’ll forget about them for a little while. It’s amazing having a chance to clear your head like that. Whatever your age, whatever you do it will be a real treat for you.

If you are pregnant or suffer from epilepsy be sure to check that the oil you are using is compatible for you and will not exacerbate your condition. Make sure skin is clean before starting to massage, you don’t want to rub dirt into your pores!

How to Massage Correctly

Using the palms of both hands, stroke lightly from the base of the neck up to the chin using alternate hands. As you get used to this the pressure can be increased. Be careful not to pull or tug on the skin. Next using the tips of your fingers, move slowly from the jaw line up over the inside cheeks past the sides of the nose and up around the top of the eye sockets finishing at the outer eyebrows.

Use very gentle pressure around the eyes, you can always increase this as you become more used to it. Still using the fingertips, massage from the point in the middle of the eyebrows just above the nose and continue up and out towards the forehead. Then starting near the nostrils, move the fingers out towards the earlobes under the cheekbones.

There are pressure points here and the area may be slightly sensitive, so go gently. Finally, starting at the base of the chin, move the fingers along the jaw line towards the earlobes.

When finished, the face can be rinsed in warm water and sprayed with rose water or your favorite toner. If your skin is very dry, you can increase the absorption by placing a warm washcloth on the face for five minutes to open the pores, then wiping off the excess oil. There is no set rule for how long a massage should take, fifteen minutes is probably enough to start with. If you persist and do this once or twice a week, you will notice your skin improve over a few weeks. The circulation should improve and lymph drainage increased. Also you will feel pleasantly relaxed.
